Last days to see Ed Ruscha at the Hayward Gallery in London

You've got until 10th January to see the first major Ed Ruscha's UK retrospective. The show focus exclusively on the paintings of the American artist. Spanning Ed Ruscha’s entire career, the exhibition features 78 paintings, many on public display for the first time, and reveals the depth and breadth of Ruscha’s achievement as a painter whose interests in printed matter, graphic design, cinema, photography and the cultural landscape of the American West make his elegant and provocative work both playful and subversive.

Cute Girl Tattoos

cute girl tattoo
Just about any design choice can be made into cute girl tattoos, but that's not what we're going to talk about. Having tons of styles to choose from is not a bad thing, though. Not even close. Taking the time to learn about various styles and researching the design choices you might like is always a good thing. In fact, people who do "not" do this will usually regret the artwork they put on their body, which really stinks. Here's are some of the most amazing designs choices, which can all be made into cute girl tattoos.

I am going to lump some of the most popular ones into the same boat: Butterflies, fairies, stars, astrological signs and the like. You can't go wrong with any of these choices, although a disturbing trend is happening to these styles. A lot of sites know how popular they are, so they stuff their servers with any generic artwork they can find. They don't care that their artwork is cookie cutter. They just care that it will draw more visitors. Be careful with this artwork, because 95% of people regret putting a generic tat on their body. They do not make cute girl tattoos.

Whatever styles you end up picking, just make sure you are doing it for the right reason, and not just because other people are doing it. Fads come and go. That's why trendy artwork will not last.

A couple of the less common styles are Kanji, women tribals and "New School" artwork. These three choices are not as common on women, but they are very, very in depth and growing in popularity. You are not limited when you choose these cute girl tattoos, because there are so many various ways to incorporate these style choices. That's the best way to ensure you pick a design that you're 100% happy with. Styles that can go 50 different way are always good, because it gets your creative thoughts flowing. Kanji is mostly letters, tribals are very traditional and new school artwork is just now beginning to take off, but incorporate dozens of various traditions.

Whatever artwork you think will make cute girl tattoos, nothing beats getting fully informed about the designs you're looking at.

Here are the 3 largest, most original websites to pick from thousands of quality Cute Girl Tattoos.

What to Look For in the Artwork You See

Printable Tattoo Designs ArtworkThere are a lot of truly good printable tattoo designs out there. There is also a boat load of terribly generic stuff out there, which drastically reduces your chances of finding the places that have the good artwork. Here's how you can tell if you're in some half generic gallery, or at a website that take pride in having original, high quality printable tattoo designs.

The very first thing you should do is take a look at their information page, or their about us page. You need to see if they are actually labeling their artists names, or at list listing them. If a gallery isn't afraid to tell you who the actual artists are, that means they will have mostly original, top notch printable tattoo designs. On the flip side of this, if they don't list artists, that gallery probably just steals generic artwork from anywhere they can get it and plops it on their pages.

Next, pull up one page of their artwork. Is it all flash designs? Flash looks very pretty and people can make some amazing looking designs in this format. The truth is that flash very rarely looks anything like what you see on paper. Once you ink a flash design on your skin, it will look completely different than what you see on paper, which is not a good thing. 95% of the time, it will look drastically worse than what you imagined it would. You don't want to mess around with those types of printable tattoo designs, unless you have an artist redraw it.

Hand or computer drawn artwork is always the way to go. Real artists know how to make a design that will look the same once it's tattooed onto someone's skin. That's the type of artwork you want to pick from. If the gallery lists the artists on their site, you can grab those names and do some quick research to see where else they've submitted artwork, which is an awesome way to gather even more printable tattoo designs. You won't believe how many sensational galleries you can find this way.

Vivienne Westwood's wallpapers

Vivienne Westwood has created a wallpaper collection with Cole & Son. The bold prints are pulled from Vivienne's collections across the years, going as far back as her 1981/1982 Pirate collection that featured the Squiggle pattern.

Westwood commented on her exploration of interior design:"It is good when my ideas get carried over into other artistic media. This collection is a perfect opportunity to be able to work with a heritage company like Cole & Son and to see my ideas from fashion translated into the world of interiors and wallpaper."

Tutto Fellini at the Museum Jeu de Paume in Paris

Anita Ekberg et Marcello Mastroianni, La Dolce Vita, 1960.

We had to create the word "Fellinian" to be able to describe the extravagant universe of the Italian movie Director made of childhood memories, dreams, women and circus. The Paris Museum Le Jeu de Paume tries to analyze this incredible personnality through a vibrant exhibition which will run until 17 January. Run it's beautiful and deep !

Irving Penn was one of the most respected photographers of the 20th century. In a career that began at the premiere fashion magazine Vogue in 1943 and spans more than six decades, he created innovative fashion, still life, and portrait studies. His photographs are defined by the elegant simplicity and meticulous rigor that became the trademarks of his style.

This exhibition running until 10th January 2010 presents masterful presentations of skilled tradespeople dressed in work clothes and carrying the tools of their occupations. The show reveals another side of Penn, who is commonly known for his portrait shots.

Prada is the edgiest brand: the Epicenter project

Miuccia Prada is more than a trend-setter, she's a cultural forecaster and an honest and knowledgeable art lover. Hence the fact that Prada launched this series of amazing t-shirts earlier this year. I think they're fantastic !

The Jersey White Prada Obvious Classic t-shirts (understandably abbreviated to JWP for the project) come in different 'Prada' shades for the different stores: white for Tokyo, LA and Montenapoleone Donna; red for NYC; sky blue for Montenapoleone Uomo; light green for London and black or white for Galleria.

Quote of the Week: Anna Wintour b*tching on Carine Roitfeld

"I think it's totally important for all of us in the American fashion industry to support the young designers, and I think that's why New York's become such a vibrant fashion center, because people go there not only to see the Donna Karans of the world but a whole new generation. I'm just so sorry that there isn't something like that in Paris that's similar. I think that they should look for the younger generation here [in Paris] as well. Not only New York but London really supports their young talent; Franca Sozzani at Italian Vogue supports the young Italian designers, and I think when France is so known for its fashion industry — for them not to be reaching out to help younger people today is really a shame. [Mlle Agnes fashion no one and former Weil model (nothing else worth saying): "And there's space in your pages for them."] There's space in everybody's pages."

The Key Secret To Great Tattoos!

PictureTattoo ShadingTattooing is a booming industry and growing every single day. Now there are even TV shows dedicated to the art that are catching fire. When you look around, tattoos are everywhere! Now you see them on people you know, see them in advertisements, and even on famous celebrities. So what makes a great tattoo? Of course it is great design, but there is one very big component that is critical to a really stunning and beautiful tattoo.

What is this component to a great tattoo?

Tattoo shading is the part of the tattoo where a two dimensional tattoo becomes a three dimensional tattoo. It is the part of the tattoo where flat lines take shape and holds a certain degree of depth to make the tattoo "pop" out. There is even a whole style of tattoo shading now that focuses only on black and grey tattoos...no color, just black and white.

If a tattoo artist does not learn the technical yet critical aspect of tattoo shading, then a tattoo just falls flat. It is as simple as that. This one aspect of tattooing can be learned but it takes some real practice and some technical skill. Mastering tattoo shading and becoming known for doing great black and grey tattoos can really boost a tattoo artists reputation in the tattoo industry. Those who have mastered tattoo shading at an expert level are very well revered and respected.

Now there are great information resources online to help aspiring tattoo artists. Of course, the best way to really learn the skills is through an apprenticeship, but gaining the basic knowledge is first and foremost of importance. Learning all you can about tattoo shading and other steps in the tattoo process are key and luckily information is gaining in popularity. An example of a great source or brand for tattoo information is "The Ultimate Tattoo Guide" series. These guides help budding tattoo artists get the basic tattoo knowledge needed to start tattooing including aspects like tattoo shading, etc.

So if you want to break into doing great tattoos that will get make people turn their heads, it is CRITICAL to master the art of tattoo shading. Without it, a tattoo is just not a real tattoo...a piece of real art.

Madonna is amazingly beautiful in the new spring/summer 2010 Dolce + Gabbana campaign

In this week's Italian Vanity Fair, is the worldwide preview of D&G's new spring/summer 2010 campaign featuring Madonna. Shot by Steven Klein, one of Madge's favourite photographers, the pictures showcase an intimate and classic Italian style. Yes Madonna is trying hard to play the Italian "mama" and the result is amazing.

In the feature, Stefano Gabbana comments: "She loved the campaign, and is impressively knowledgeable about Italian cinema". Madonna took inspiration from one of her favourite Italian actresses Monica Vitti.

The intention of Dolce&Gabbana is to recapture a woman’s human side, showcasing through these images how a woman’s femininity and sensuality can be found through the simplicity of daily gestures along with a passion for life.

What I find very striking is that Madonna is beautiful. This campaign is stronger than the Louis Vuitton or Versace campaigns, in a different way obviously. It's true that she 's beautiful ! What do you think?
